Analysis Software for the Photon Migration Amplitude Cancellation Portable Breast Tumor
Imaging System Developed in Matlab.
We were asked to write analysis software to process the data output of the
portable breast tumor imaging system. The data was a set of two 6 x 6
matrices of voltage readings. The readings represented the amount of light
absorbed by sensors mounted on the imaging pad: one matrix represented the
readings at 750 nm for oxy-hemoglobin, and the other represented the readings at
830 nm for deoxy-hemoglobin.
The software was developed in Matlab v5.2. We created a graphical user
interface (GUI) that made analysis significantly less cumbersome by allowing the
user to analyze data through mouse clicks in one interface instead of typing a
series of commands in different programs. Not only was the system easier
to use, but it reduced analysis time from approximately 5 minutes to less than
30 seconds per data set.
